Michael Schmidt was born at Heilbronn, Germany, in 1961. he graduated in engineering from the University of Stuttgart in 1989. Subsequently, he attended the Faculty of Design for Property Investments at the Stuttgart Academy of Art. He then worked as a designer in the design and advanced conception office at Mercedes Benz. He left there in 1992 to set up the design studio "DesignWorX" with a partner. In 1995 he opened his own design studio "code.2.design".

Main customers: Audi, ACO Passavant, BMW, Columbus Clean, Drabert, Duscholux, E_Plus, Falper, Hansgrohe OEM, HighTech Design Produkts, Porsche, Renggli Laboratories, Schärf Office Furniture, Samas Office Furniture Group. Code.2.design is the official innovation partner of the Fraunhofer Institute.

Collaboration with Falper includes the Scoop bathtub and basin and the new serie Shape.

The Scoop, designed by Michael Schmidt, seems to rise from the wall and blend perfectly with its surroundings. The Scoop bathtub and basins are perceived as a seductive sculpture for the modern bathroom.

Unique components with organic shapes: a perfect balance between functionality and emotion. The Scoop bathtub and the free standing basin are often labelled as seductive sculptures for the modern bathroom.

The Scoop bathtub was awarded with the Red Dot Design Award in 2007.
